Blood Bowl crazy?

I’ve not posted for a little while and I’m pleased to say that it is mainly because I’ve been going Blood Bowl mad. Everything and anything Blood Bowl and I’m on it.

I suppose it is because our new continuous league is starting and I had my first game this week, but it’s really been me having more time personally for hobby.

In preparation for the league, I’ve been watching various live streams and videos online as well as getting in several games on Chaos Edition…all as skaven. The (current) two Blood Bowl podcasts – Both Down and Three Die Block – have recently posted their latest episodes for me to consume and on top of that I’ve been getting stuck into the painting of my new human team. I’ve been trying to get myself properly setup on FUMBBL and the online leagues of Chaos Edition but they seem a little more challenging/daunting at the moment. I got my FUMBBL team setup and I think I managed to join the starter 145 league, but getting a game wasn’t simple so I gave up. On Chaos Edition too I had problems getting setup online. I wanted to just to a one-off challenge type game but alas either couldn’t find the option or it doesn’t exist. Again, I put it to one side for another day.

I was hoping to sign up to a (fairly) local Blood Bowl one day tournament but unfortunately I’ve got a family function that day and won’t be able to make it. I’m still looking at trying to squeeze in a tourney or two this year, but it’s not going to be easy.

I’ve also been reading the rules, skills etc and putting together my own reference sheets – I’m an organised person and love putting together stuff like this. I’ll review them again and will share them here soon.

I’ll be posting an update on the progress that I’ve made on my human team very soon. It’s been very interesting to me to see how my painting has changed, and hopefully progressed, since the first team that I did.

I’m all in on Blood Bowl 🙂

P.s. I won my first league game 3-1 and managed to get a gutter runner to skill up after he scored two second half TDs.

Setting up on FUMBBL

I’m trying to play more Blood Bowl of ALL types. I’ve got two tabletop games under my belt recently, Chaos Edition is installed on the laptop and I’ve just got FUMBBL setup on the Mac.

It took a while as I am using Chrome and it doesn’t work properly with Java (or something). So long story short, I finally got it working by downloading and installing the Firefox browser and then installing the Java Runtime ( from there. It all worked and I’ve been able to log in a watch a cracking game this evening.

I’m HairyPete77 on FUMBBL if you are interested. I’m a Rookie with no games played so far. I’ll try and get a few test games done over the next couple of weeks before I play against proper people. So much hobby to do though 🙂

Check out FUMBBL for yourself.

Lonely gamers?

Now, I’ve not looked. I’m getting that out there straight away. I’m a married dad of one. My wife isn’t into ‘geeky’ stuff. I moved to a new area 6 months ago, and although I am making headways in terms of Blood Bowl, I am still a lonely gamer.

What is there for me?

I’ve been going through some of the contents of the old toy cupboard in preparation of moving it into my cave later this week. I’ve found my Warhammer Fantasy rulebook (1st ed I think) as well as the D&D Rules Cyclopedia from the same period. I love fantasy gaming. If I’m honest I love the background and story, hobby, elements more than the playing aspects. But, I still love to play. Double but, I don’t like the though of MMOs, I want to play on my own or with a few mates. Considering I don’t know anyone else like me (at the moment)…what games can I play? Where are the Massive Singleplayer Online games? Where are the card games for one? There must be more lonely gamers out there? I’ve got Blood Bowl Chaos Edition but that’s installed on my PC laptop not my Mac (that I use most). Suppose I can rectify that when the cave is opened. Given my recent debut with the Eshin Academy I think that would be a good move 😉

I love, love, love the hobby and fluff aspect – reading, purchasing, painting, building armies/teams/characters etc – and that will always continue. That’s about to have a rebirth of it’s now my time and money can focus on it.

But I want more!

Sorry I didn’t call you. I meant to. I promise.

I really did. I sent you those flowers. You didn’t get the flowers? I know, it’s my fault. I’ll try harder…I know there may not be a next time…just give me one more chance.

After an initial flurry of posts and excitement enveloping me like a cheap cologne on a teenager, I hit a slump. It was bound to happen. I’ve been tweeting a bit, but I know that doesn’t count. It’s been a rough time at home with us all suffering with the lack of action on the house move front. We’re so close, but in the English system of buying and selling that is not a good place to be. The stress has been building up as have the number of calls and emails placed to various estate agents and solicitors each day. We’re nearly there! (Famous last words and words that I’ve said myself at least 100 times in the last couple of months). Add to that the usual excuses of the increasing dark and cold of winter and things have slowed down.

The painting has taken a back seat too. I am pleased to say that I have been trying out my Skaven tactics on the Cyanide Blood Bowl Chaos Edition. I’ll write a post shortly about what I’m coming up against and what I’ve learned so far. I’m hoping that I can get everything painted up and that my move and subsequent decorating is done before Christmas. The tabletop league that I want to join starts in January so I need to be ready for that and introduce myself to the club first.

I’ll try harder, I promise.
